Divinity in the Iliad

Oxford dictionary defines divinity as “the state or quality of being of or like God or a god”.  To me the idea of divinity is that you are somehow related to the gods, which is essentially the same as how the Oxford dictionary defines it.  In the Iliad there are the gods and demigods like Achilles and Sarpedon.  Though they are both demigods they both have a different in how much power they have.  I believe that it is because Achilles was destined to be able to over through his father, which is why Achilles is only a demigod.  If Thetis had a child with Zeus then Achilles would be the new ruler of the gods.  It is because Achilles is a demigod that he is superior to all demigods because of the prophecy (stated above).  This makes me think that there is this scale between mortal and god which everyone sits on and because of this there are people who are more godlike even though they are all divinity.  I would never have thought of this before reading the Iliad that it wasn’t black and white in the fact that you are a mortal, demigod, or god.
